Vou publicar um email que enviei para uma amiga querida hoje (espero que ela não se importe) que mais ou menos resume o que ando fazendo... beijos a todos.
My dear friend!!
How are you?? How is the new year going?
I am fine, things are happening fast and excitingly this year. But I am also working too much... which is not bad if I find the balance to have a personal life as well.
Yesterday I had a sushi party in my new apartment to show it to some friends. By sushi party I mean everyone makes their own sushi. I had on the table: nori, sushi rice, shoyu, wasabi, picked ginger, sesame (black and white), cucumber, carrots, tuna, fake lobster (that was brought by my Korean friend instead of the fake crab), cream cheese, teriyaki sauce. Each one is supposed to take a piece of nori, add rice and whatever else they want. It is fun! And it is much less work than making rolls for everyone ( I am usually too lazy for that). It was the first evening dinner in my new place and apart from my Korean friend, everyone else was Spanish or Spanish-speaking. So, of course we had nice cheese for entries and good wine. I also had some pão de queijo made by my godmother which I brought from Brazil. I am happy to say people loved it!!
So, as I have now Teriyaki sauce in my house, which for me tastes like Osaka and Japan, yesterday I had strong good memories from those lovely years. And I really feel like trying to cook okonomiyaki. I have dashi here and maybe I can find cabbage somewhere. Do you mind giving me the receipt again? I am afraid I left my cooking book, which you gave me, in Brazil and I don´t remember the receipt by heart. If it works, I will take a very nice picture for you.
Miss you!
With my best regards,
Juana
